Joseph L. McKinstray, 88, of Westfield and former resident of Belleville, IL for 44 years, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010. He was born in Madison, WI on June 26, 1921, the son of the late Forrest Merrill and Mary Amy (Neidlinger) McKinstray. He spent his early years in and near Indianapolis, IN. He worked on the Connor Prairie Farm when it was still a working farm, bailing hay as a young man. Joseph graduated from Purdue University in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a 1st Lt. during World War II. He was an FBI Special Agent for 27 years.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor V. (Steen) McKinstray; son, James (Teresa) McKinstray; two daughters, Mary McKinstray and Joan McKinstray; and two grandsons, Joseph and Collin.
An informal gathering will be Wednesday, January 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Harry W. Moore Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN.
